Which Way Naija?

The Nation in Peril as Politicians Prioritize Power Over People

As Nigeria grapples with the harsh realities of an ailing economy and an extremely high cost of living, one would expect the political class to roll up their sleeves and work towards finding solutions to these pressing issues. Instead, they are busy scheming and maneuvering for the 2027 elections, leaving the fate of the nation and its people hanging in the balance.

The priorities of Nigeria's politicians are glaringly skewed, and it's a damning indictment of their leadership. With inflation soaring, unemployment skyrocketing, and poverty ravaging the land, one would think that the focus would be on economic revival and alleviating the suffering of the masses. But no, the political elite are more concerned with consolidating power and securing their grip on the nation's resources.

Sadly, this trend is not unique to Nigeria. Across Africa, leaders are more focused on clinging to power than driving meaningful development. From Uganda to Cameroon, the Democratic Republic of Congo to Equatorial Guinea, the story is the same - leaders prioritizing their own interests over the welfare of their citizens.

The 2027 elections are still years away, but the politicking has already begun. The same old faces, with their tired promises and failed policies, are jostling for position, while the people continue to suffer. It's a vicious cycle that has plagued Africa for decades, and it seems there's no end in sight.

The question on everyone's lips is: "Which way Naija?" Is Nigeria destined to continue down this path of economic stagnation and political stagnation, or will the people rise up and demand change? The answer lies in the hands of the citizens, who must hold their leaders accountable and demand a better future.

But for now, it seems the political class will continue to prioritize their own interests over the welfare of the nation. As the people struggle to make ends meet, the politicians will continue to indulge in their game of thrones, leaving Nigeria's future hanging precariously in the balance. Which way indeed?
