Uganda Tourism Expo- A view of Africa’s Heritage
The Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo is a three-day tourism expo held in Kampala, Uganda. It is organized by the state-run Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and aims to increase tourism arrivals in the country.
The expo showcases various tourism products and offerings from Uganda, including cultural wear representing different tribes and virtual reality safari experiences
At least 250 exhibitors are expected to participate in the event, with more than 1,000 visitors likely to attend.
The expo emphasizes targeting emerging markets like China, in addition to traditional markets such as the U.S., Canada, and Germany
Uganda aims to raise annual tourism revenue to about 1.9 billion U.S. dollars and increase inbound tourism revenue per visitor from 1,052 dollars to 1,500 dollars .
In 2023, Uganda received about 1.3 million international tourist arrivals, with arrivals from Africa dominating the inbound tourism
Tourism is a significant contributor to Uganda's economy, accounting for about 5 percent of the country's gross domestic product and the Country is using this opportunity to expand their tourism industry and generate more revenue as well as showing Africa’s rich Heritage.
