Tensions Escalate in Bamenda, Cameroon as Separatists Target Civilians and Properties
Bamenda, Cameroon is gripped by rising tensions as separatist groups enforce a controversial policy, sparking violence and destruction. The Ambazonia Defense Forces, a group linked to the policy, has attacked taxi drivers who refuse to repaint their vehicles from yellow to blue and white. The policy, which began in July, has already resulted in the destruction of approximately ten taxis, with five more set ablaze at a petrol station on August 14.

The situation has caused widespread confusion and distress among civilians, with local authorities and other separatist leaders condemning the attacks. Pro-government activist Nkonda Titus claims to have started the policy, which is now being promoted by separatist leader Ayaba Cho Lucas.
The targeting of civilians and their properties has raised concerns about the escalating conflict in the region. As tensions continue to rise, residents of Bamenda are left to wonder when the violence will end.
