NAFDAC Launches Probe into "Miracle" Products Sold by Church in Nigeria

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has commenced an investigation into the sale of unregistered "miracle" products by the Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministries in Delta State, Nigeria. The church, led by Pastor Jeremiah Omoto, had falsely claimed that its products, including "miracle" water and soap, were registered with NAFDAC.

The lack of NAFDAC registration was first brought to light by social media activist, VeryDarkMan (VDM), who has had a series of online confrontations with Pastor Omoto. VDM's efforts helped expose the church's false claims, prompting NAFDAC to take action.

According to local reports, Pastor Omoto promoted these items on social media, claiming they could heal infertility and even guarantee twins for women who used the soap. He went as far as to claim that the products were NAFDAC registered, leading many to believe they were safe and effective.

However, NAFDAC has revealed that these claims were false and has sealed the Globod Table Water factory for its role in producing and promoting the unregistered products. The agency stated that Pastor Omoto's actions were misleading and deceptive, and that the public had begun to visit their office to confirm the claims.

NAFDAC's investigation aims to uncover the full extent of the church's activities and ensure that those responsible are held accountable. The agency has warned consumers to be cautious of such false claims and to always verify the registration status of products before purchase.

This incident highlights the importance of social media activism in holding individuals and organizations accountable for their actions. VDM's efforts demonstrate the power of online advocacy in protecting public health and safety. NAFDAC's swift action serves as a reminder of their commitment to ensuring the safety and efficacy of products sold to the public.
